Regional ensembles
“Regional ensembles” that cultivate folklore are artistic formations that seek to preserve and promote the authentic folk traditions of their region. Unlike stylized song and dance ensembles, regional ensembles focus on faithfully recreating local traditions, customs, songs, dances and folk costumes. Their repertoire often includes authentic music that has been passed down from generation to generation, as well as traditional dances and rituals. Members of regional ensembles often come from the same communities they seek to represent, which adds authenticity to their performances. These ensembles play a key role in educating younger generations and maintaining regional cultural identities. They often participate in local celebrations, folk festivals and other cultural events, both locally and nationally. Their activities are invaluable in preserving Poland’s cultural diversity and traditional heritage.
